Why are all the college football bowl games only on ESPN (cable) and not on regular tv channels this year?

With the exception of one bowl game, all the others are only on ESPN. Other years they were always on the standard TV channels? Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who don't have cable or cancelled it due to the bad economy. Don't you think they are again squeezing out the average person so that cable is no longer a "want" but a "need" in order to see TV.
