So I play poker online at 888 and last night I decided to try the online roulette table they had and I got up 200$ then ended up losing it all plus 16 of my $ after it landed on red 8 times in a row. Today I was thinking shouldn't it be easy to make money at roulette in a situation like this by doubling back up? For example lets say the 0 is gone just so we don't complicate things since that only has 3% chance of hitting on a European roulette table, so lets just say red and black are 50/50 so lets says you bet $1 on black and it hits red seeing as red hit more than black in the past half hour I double up on black and bet 2$ and it hits red again so i double up 6$ on black and it hits red again so I double up 18$ on black and again it lands on red so now i bet 54$ on black and if it lands on red again i would bet 162$ on black and so on... if you see the pattern there every time i don't hit i take all the money i already bet and double it so if i win i get back what i bet on black and missed plus double that money so if you take the example and I would hit black when I bet the 162$ i would get back my 81$ that I lost plus I would gain another 81$.
So pretty much my question is wouldn't it be a no-brainer just to keep following this pattern everytime your colour of choice doesn't hit?
I don't know if im overlooking something here because im not the best at math im only 17 but to me it looks like this is a simple way to beat the game?

and the max bet is actually 500 at the table i was on and your right but then could'nt I just rebuy? I mean im talking online here so the rebuy would take no longer than 10 seconds and even if you were in a real casino could'nt you just have a buddy with you so if u go broke he continues the pattern with his money?
also i see what your saying how the 0 gives the house an edge but should'nt it eventualy have to land on black and lets say you can follow this patern then should'nt yo be a "winning player"?
@ legfuhjohnson I lost the 200 i won and i would got it back if i had the money to bet on it again because right after i went broke the wheel landed on black and also i wasnt following this patern i was just betting whatever
I just read the martingale and I didn't say im not convinced i just don't fully understand lets say you did have infinite wealth shouldn't it then be foolproof?

My questions relate to what I should actually expect? Im going on my own too, would that look odd? I also have a limit of £40 as its my first time at physical, competitive poker, am I likely to find tables with blinds to suit that bankroll?
Also Im quite introvert and any so-called "banter" round the table is likely to knock me off form. How can I guard against it?
